Profane is the scene and artist name of Brice. A sculptor, painter, machinist, screen printer, carpenter, blacksmith, leather crafter, mechanic, tagger, graphic designer, weaver, author and absolutely terrible poet. Brice has never let the limits of material or ignorance get in the way of making good art. An obsessive collector of skills and talents, the pursuit of an artistic vision is all the drive he needs to learn whatever craft is necessary to manifest his ideas.
Inspired by the backwoods improvisation of redneck engineering and the high brow world of fine art, Brice centers most of his pieces around the concept of dichotomy. Most of his pieces are in some way at odds with themselves. Nature blended with industry, technology with primitivity, sexuality with innocence, each piece is meant to evoke a slight sense of contradiction, A perpetual reminder that nothing is ever a perfect representation of itself.
Among his biggest interests is repurposing found materials (dumpster diving) in weird and thought provoking ways. Industrial materials are so often overlooked for their artistic potential, and it's that oversight that inspires some of his strangest pieces.
Brice is also the artist behind the large, interactive art pieces that frequently turn up at Technosexual, including the giant light bright that was debuted at the July Technosexual party, and the shibari picture frame that will be debuted at Psychosomatica. And yes, you're allowed to play with them.
He is also the primary graphic designer for Three of Canes, and will be revealing the first Technosexual merch for sale at Psychosomatica.
Come see a selection of Profane's blacklight-reactive, shibari-themed paintings, as well as his interactive art and play pieces, at Psychosomatica!
